What is a trigger?
"Trigger" is the word we use for any event or circumstances outside of a person that results in a significant feeling of emotional discomfort, such as anxiety, panic, discouragement, despair or shame. Triggers vary from person to person because what upsets one person may be very different to what upsets another.

It is helpful to think about what your triggers are. Being more aware of your triggers enables you to be more prepared to either avoid them, if this is a useful and appropriate strategy, or have a useful way to respond at the time to help manage your anxiety.
