There is mixed evidence to show that music helps to calm anxiety. Music does however elicit emotions. It can help us with developing positive self-talk to trick the brain into sending chemical messages to the body to say things are all well or even great. If you are prone to anxiety then it is a good decision to select music to listen to that won't being you down, or keep you down. It is okay to feel these emotions of course, as with any emotions, but we don't want to get stuck in a groove and get depressed. It is important we use all tools and strategies accessible to us to buoy us up and reduce anxiety.
